The Detroit Rebuild Initiative is a program that will link over 40 african-american organizations for the rebuilding of detroits urban landscape.  Email info@namc-detroit.org and use DRI in the subject line.
MOU MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

PURPOSE

The DRI MOU is the formal document used to bring together the vast array of African-American organizations and association in the Metro Detroit Area.  The DRI is being initiated to harness the synergy the groups and the foundational and governmental programs as it relates to the rebuilding of Detroit.

 

BACKGROUND

African-Americans represent 80% of the population of Detroit.  Yet AA does not work together for the greater good of the rebuilding of Detroit.  Detroit’s automotive industry is in the decline and this cannot be denied.  Detroit is now focusing on Hospitality, Homeland Security, Healthcare, and Technology as its life’s blood for economic survival.

 

AUTHORITY

The DRI MOU is a non-governmental private sector entity that will be apart of the Master Plan of the signing agencies and organizations.  The DRI will allow for one representative per organization.  The DRI will meeting and progress monthly.

 

ADVOCACY

The DRI MOU will strive for cooperative arrangements between the signing entities.  Also the DRI will be vigilant in efforts in Washington, Lansing, and Detroit.

 

TERM

The DRI MOU covers a term of four years (2009 thru 2012).  The MOU can be renewed if and when the signing entities agree.

 

CONTACT

The DRI MOU contacts are listed on page two of this document.  The signing entities will assign a Director that will be the linchpin of activities.

 

GOALS

The DRI will make things happen within the City of Detroit with City of Detroit residence with City of Detroit based business and City of Detroit resources.

 

OBJECTIVES

The DRI MOU will meet, caucus, plan, and implement building activities.

The DRI will enact an encompassing media plan that will bring attention to the positive activities within the City of Detroit.

 

ROLES

The DRI MOU working documents will spell out the specific roles and duties of the signing entities.

 

AGREEMENT

This Agreement will be ratified and acted upon with the completion of the signing process.
