September 25, 2011 – Detroit, MI - Bernard Parker III, an innovator and creative problem solver with a track record of success in construction contracting and association building, has been selected as the first Executive Director of the National Association of Minority Contractors – Detroit Regional Chapter.

The new Executive Director is a Detroit native and a graduate of St. Martin De Porres High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Siena Heights University. Mr. Parker has held business development positions with a local contracting firm and has operated his own consulting business.

According founding national board member, and national contractor, JL Dumas, “Mr. Parker’s number one charge going forward with the NAMC is to advocate for the Detroit Chapter and ensure that opportunities are made available to the qualified members.”

 The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) is a nonprofit minority business, trade, educational and advocacy association headquartered in Washington, DC.  Established in 1969 to address the needs and concerns of minority contractors, NAMC’s membership consists of people of all races and ethnic backgrounds; the organization’s mandate, “ Building Bridges – Crossing Barriers, ” focuses on construction industry concerns common to African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans
